Climate House is preparing for launch and creating a roving archive of visual language to draw from for web and print use. One missing piece of our visual language is the rendering of "civic scores" designed to evoke the concept of civic participation as a creative and participatory practice.

This project seeks to create:
*3-5 "civic score graphics" inspired by Fluxus visual works (we have a reference of artworks to draw from but adapted to communicate our specific projects)
*3-5 corresponding prints for fundraising, brand and program development purposes

This is, in essence, the design of 3-5 pages and then create 3-5 graphics out of them that can be used as recurring visual language. In essence, creating more organic shapes from the graphics that can be integrated into web navigation and/or integrated into other digital materials.

Here is more information detailing the design of the three key prints:

The Climate House Civic Score series is an evolving collection of limited-edition artworks that translate the core policy platforms explored across Climate House programs into poetic visual compositions.

Each work draws inspiration from the logic of an experimental musical score—using notation, rhythm, instruction, abstraction, and relational forms to evoke a civic system rather than describe it. The result is a visual language that invites audiences to encounter policy not as bureaucracy, but as culture, choreography, and collective composition.

The series will be presented through the Climate House Concept Shop, a developing retail platform conceived as an exhibition in its own right: a curated collection that extends the concepts explored across Climate House programming while generating ongoing support for both the institution and its collaborators.

The inaugural series includes three Civic Scores:

(1) Protecting Global Forests

WORD FOR WORLD: FOREST (working title) is a growing body of policy-integrated artworks, public programs, and cultural experiences exploring our intimate relationships with global forests. The project seeks to cultivate deeper public recognition of forests as living civic partners while encouraging relational approaches to their protection.

(2) Reclaiming Watersheds

BRADBAORI is Climate House’s inaugural Los Angeles project, responding to hydroclimate whiplash across the LA watershed. It serves as the first chapter within TOWARD A WATER COMMONS, an expanding initiative exploring watersheds as shared civic infrastructure and public goods deserving of collective stewardship, protection, and care.

(3) Reclaiming Civic Authorship

CIVIC AUTHORSHIP SALONS and POLICY AS POETRY (working titles) are interconnected initiatives exploring how artistic and communal approaches to governance can expand democratic participation. Together, they investigate what it means to reclaim civic authorship by asserting that those most affected by policy decisions should also hold the greatest authority in shaping them.
Our organization is pre-launch and this work will help us better visually communicate our work while helping to support with revenue generation for our projects. This is essential to make sure we are able to execute on our mission.
I have a Miro board to share the visual concept with the designer as a basis of conversation. I would love to consult with the designer, as well, on the best format to translate the designs to a printer and integrate it into an online shop format.

Organization Mission

Climate House is a creative think tank using the arts to illustrate actionable pathways forward—and bring them to life. Our Mythos Embodied Climate: Climate change is not the abstract, technical issue it’s often framed to be–but a universal, ambient one experienced through our bodies and daily lives. CH communicates using universal sensory language, to reintegrate our understanding of climate change as real in the felt sense, and as a core defining issue shaping everything around us. Universal Sensory Language: By speaking this universal language of the senses, we can communicate in a language everyone speaks and understands. This helps reframe climate as an everyone issue–providing an opportunity for the general public to reclaim their agency in understanding it and engaging with its solutions creatively, collaboratively, and meaningfully. Culture-First: Culture is the fabric of daily life. CH uses a broad suite of cultural tools to meet people where they are, designing programming that is audience-tailored and culture-first, recognizing this as the carrier oil for engaging with more complex topics. Show-not-tell: Because seeing is believing, we design programs that show, not tell. All of our programs are seared with a blueprint, grounding solutions on the experiential plane, allowing our audience to feel solutions that are so actionable, they can taste them.
