Our organization aims to create a high-performing, scalable, and secure Android mobile application that supports our expanding initiatives, including Street Care and our emerging educational programs. As our outreach continues to grow, we seek a volunteer who is skilled Android app development to help design, build, and optimize mobile features that connect communities with essential resources.

The volunteer will support the development of advanced Android applications using Kotlin, integrate backend services such as Firebase and MongoDB, and enhance performance, reliability, and responsiveness. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to define new features, improving data architecture, troubleshooting bottlenecks, and ensuring seamless integration with Google Cloud Platform services.

Through this collaboration, we aim to strengthen our digital infrastructure and deliver an intuitive, reliable mobile experience that serves volunteers, beneficiaries, and community members effectively.
By enhancing our Android mobile application, the volunteer will directly strengthen our ability to connect vulnerable populations with resources, services, and compassionate community support. Our mobile platform plays a critical role in expanding the reach of initiatives such as Street Care, enabling real-time engagement, storytelling, and service coordination.

A reliable, scalable application infrastructure allows us to serve more users, maintain data security, and respond efficiently to community needs. The volunteer’s technical contributions will help ensure that our digital tools effectively advance our mission of promoting well-being, connection, and meaningful social impact on a broader scale.
Our team has prepared by organizing existing code repositories, technical documentation, backend architecture outlines, and access to Firebase, MongoDB, and Google Cloud resources. We have identified priority features and performance improvements based on user feedback and program expansion goals.

To ensure efficient collaboration, we have established development workflows including version control practices, code review processes, and testing protocols. A designated technical lead will provide onboarding support, clarify requirements, and facilitate communication between development and program teams. Clear milestones and deliverables have been outlined to help guide the project within a flexible volunteer schedule.

Organization Mission

Bright Mind is a community wellness education organization. BME was just featured on ABC, CBS, Politico, Newsweek, and many more outlets for our vaccination project and we need more people to join us as we continue to solve urgent social issues! CBS News said of our newest app: "Health experts have said friends and family are key to getting those who aren't vaccinated and experts say this (Vaccination Rewards) app will start those conversations. "Bright Mind recently launched Street Care, a massive initiative built by our homelessness and wellness experts, 'your toolkit to help homeless people.' We have an app, an expanding series of informational materials and instructional videos (25+ already), and more (at streetcare.us). We are pioneering an online and on-the-streets outreach approach, accessible to everyone. We are passionate about building community. This is a crucial time to create positive change, and we look forward to working together as we accomplish great things together!
