Develop the content framework and draft copy for our 2025 annual report. The volunteer will create a clear section outline, write and edit narrative content and program descriptions, and provide messaging guidance to hand off to our graphic designer and project lead. Details will be provided.
This report will highlight the Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center’s college and career readiness programs serving students in South Los Angeles, showcasing STEM, tutoring, internships, arts, and scholarships. Volunteers will help tell student stories and strengthen fundraising, visibility, and community support.
Our project lead and a graphic designer will support the volunteer by supplying images, pull‑quotes, program materials, and editing help. We will schedule regular check-ins and provide access to staff for interviews so the volunteer can deliver ready‑to‑design content.

Organization Mission

The Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center is a nonprofit agency founded in 1990 by Myrtle Faye Rumph in honor of her son, killed in a drive-by shooting. We provide college and career readiness afterschool and summer programming for some 400 students in grades 3-12 in the South Los Angeles area. Our activities include homework assistance, diagnostics and tutoring in reading and math, STEM classes including coding and robotics, teen internships and discussion groups, performing and visual arts, sports and recreation, college advisement, tours, and scholarships, and more. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment committed to good citizenship and academic excellence.
