The Home of Record Project is seeking a volunteer grant writer to support our mission of serving veterans by helping secure critical funding for our programs. We are looking for a skilled volunteer who can assist our team in both an advisory and collaborative capacity. The volunteer will help us identify potential funding opportunities, review and revise existing grant proposals, and support the development of compelling new proposals tailored to specific grant requirements.

In addition to writing and editing, we are hoping the volunteer can provide guidance on best practices for grants strategy, including aligning proposals with funders' priorities and structuring narratives for maximum impact. They may also work closely with our finance team to ensure budgets and financial documents meet funder expectations and are presented clearly and accurately.

This project is ideal for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with impactful writing. Their support will directly contribute to strengthening our organization’s capacity to serve veterans more effectively. We anticipate a time commitment of 2-5 hours per week for a few weeks, depending on the volunteer’s availability and the scope of the grants being pursued. Regardless of the amount of time that you can commit we would be incredibly grateful for any support that you can offer.
At the Home of Record Project, our mission is to honor and support veterans by providing programs and services that help them reconnect with their roots, reclaim stability, and rebuild their futures. Securing funding is essential to sustaining and expanding this work, that’s where this project becomes truly impactful.

By helping us write and strengthen grant proposals, the volunteer will directly support initiatives such as transitional housing, resource navigation, mental health partnerships, and long-term reintegration programs. These initiatives are key to achieving our larger organizational goal: ending veteran homelessness.

Every successful grant proposal moves us closer to that goal of ensuring more veterans have access to safe housing, essential services, and the support networks they need to thrive. The volunteer’s time and talents will not only help fund vital programs, but also bring real, lasting change to the lives of those who have served our country.

We invite volunteers to join us in this mission, knowing their contributions will have a powerful ripple effect across the veteran community in Arizona and beyond.
We are committed to creating a smooth and impactful experience for our volunteer grant writer. To ensure strong collaboration and follow-through, our CFO will serve as the dedicated point of contact for this project. As a senior leader within our organization, they are well-positioned to provide access to financial documents, organizational data, and strategic insights needed to develop compelling grant proposals.

Our CFO is highly motivated to work alongside the volunteer—ready to provide timely materials, coordinate with internal stakeholders, and apply any recommendations directly to our grant development process. Their active involvement ensures that your work will be valued, understood, and implemented effectively.

In preparation for this project, we’ve already begun organizing past proposals, financial statements, and supporting documents to streamline onboarding and make the most of our time together. Additionally, our leadership team is fully aligned on this effort and committed to integrating your contributions into our overall fundraising strategy.
